Good Points at Assen

The team had a varied weekend in the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship at the TT Circuit Assen. Glenn Irwin had a great fourth place in the the sprint race but was unlucky to crash out in the second race. Luke Hedger had a tough weekend with a wrong tyre choice in race one but rode well to achieve 10th place in race two.

Glenn rode well all weekend and consistently set good lap times. He qualified in seventh place for race one but tyre selection proved difficult as a result of a heavy rain shower which left the track wet in some places and dry in others. He opted for full wets and got an amazing start moving into second place, unfortunately the leading bike crashed with Glenn having to take evasive action which put him back to 14th place after lap one. However, he pushed his way through the pack and by lap seven was back in second place but in the closing stages was struggling for grip finishing in a very creditable fourth place.

He was placed in ninth place on the grid for race two and was locked in an amazing five bike battle for the lead but sadly crashed out going into the final chicane fighting for a podium place.

Luke struggled to find a good set up having never ridden a Supersport machine at Assen before and when the heavy rain shower occurred just before the race the wrong tyre selection meant he finished in 20th place. As a result he was placed in 30th position on the grid for race two but got a fantastic start and was 14th after the opening lap and continued to push hard to finish in a very worthy 10th place.

Ben Wilson had another challenging weekend having no prior set up data but managing to qualify in 23rd place in wet conditions for race one. He got a fantastic start and moved through the field to seventh place by the end of the first lap. However, as the track began to dry he slipped back to 16th place finally finishing in a very solid 13th place. Sadly in race two he was forced to retire as he was caught up in a first lap incident which did some damage to his bike.

Team Manager Michael de Bidaph - "Whilst it has been a tough weekend, all three riders did their best in the changing weather conditions. Ben had some consistent pace in race one but suffered lack of grip in the wet so finishing in 13th place was a good result as he managed to secure some points. He was unfortunate in the second race to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Glenn and Luke showed promise over the weekend and in the sprint race it was always going to be a gamble on tyre choice. In race two Glenn was fighting throughout the whole race to secure a podium place and was unlucky to make a mistake on the last lap and crash out. Luke's result was really good in race two considering he started off so far back on the grid."

A win at Donington Park

The team had a strong weekend at the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship at Donington Park.

Glenn Irwin had a superb win in the Sprint Race followed by a solid fifth place in the second race. Luke Hedger had a mixed weekend with a brilliant fifth place in race one but unfortunately crashed out in race two.

Team Manager Michael de BIdaph - "There is not much I can say about the Superbike with a retirement in race one with a technical problem and 19th in race two. We are working so hard and will continue to do so to get some good results.

Both British Supersport riders were brilliant all weekend and I am proud of Glenn in taking his first win in the dry. Luke battling with the Championship leader was fantastic, he has come on massively this season. We are looking forward to taking the Gearlink Kawasaki team to the next meeting at Assen".
